Have you ever had one of those seasons where it feels like everything is falling apart at once?
You know what I mean—when your heart feels like it weighs a thousand pounds and you can't shake the feeling that the universe has forgotten about you.
I've been there. We all have.
Here's what I've learned in those dark moments: God doesn't abandon ship when the waves get big. In fact, sometimes it feels like the Divine shows up most powerfully when we're at our most broken. It's like those times when you're crying so hard you can barely breathe, and somehow—in that exact moment—you feel held.
Peace isn't about having a perfect life with no problems. It's about finding that quiet, steady presence right in the middle of your messiest, most chaotic moments. It's discovering that even when your world is shaking, there's something unshakeable within you.
If you're in one of those storms right now, this is your reminder: you're not alone in this. Not even close.
Accept the Storm Instead of Wrestling With It
I know this sounds backwards, but hear me out: fighting against your pain is like trying to swim upstream in a cyclone. It just exhausts you. When you stop fighting what's happening and instead say, "Okay, this is where I am right now," something shifts. You're not giving up—you're giving over. You're trusting that God sees the bigger picture even when all you can see is the mess in front of you.
Let Prayer Be Your Life Raft
When your mind feels like it's spinning out of control, close your eyes and just talk to God. Don't worry about saying the "right" things or sounding spiritual enough. Sometimes my prayers are just "Help" or "I'm scared" or "I don't understand." God doesn't need your fluency—He needs your honesty. And here's the thing: prayer might not change what's happening around you, but it absolutely changes what's happening inside you.
Shift from "Why Is This Happening?" for "What now?"
Look, I've spent plenty of time stuck in the "why me" loop, and it never leads anywhere good. But when you shift to asking, "What is this trying to teach me?" or "How can I grow through this?" everything changes. That rejection, that delay, that door that slammed in your face? Maybe it wasn't the universe being mean. Maybe it was love redirecting you toward something better.
Start with Faith Every Single Morning
Fear is loud—I'll give it that. It'll wake you up at 3 AM with a whole picture about everything that could go wrong. But faith? Faith is that quiet voice that says, "You've made it through hard things before." Every day, you get to choose which voice gets the microphone. Choose the one that reminds you: "I don't know how this will work out, but I know Who's walking with me." and that is God.
Notice the Little Love Notes God Leaves for You
Even when life feels impossible, pay attention to the small things that show up just when you need them. Maybe it's your favorite song playing randomly on the radio, or a text from a friend at exactly the right moment, or catching a glimpse of the most beautiful sunset after the worst day ever.
I used to think these were just coincidences until I started really paying attention. Now I see them as God's way of saying, "Hey, I'm right here with you. Don't lose hope on me."
Start looking for these moments—they're everywhere once you train your heart to see them. And here's something I've learned: the more grateful you become for the small stuff, the more the small stuff starts feeling like everything. Gratitude doesn't just change your perspective; it literally changes your life.
Your circumstances might still look the same tomorrow morning, but your peace? That can shift right now. Here's what took me years to understand: peace isn't something that happens to you when life gets easier. It's something you choose, even when life stays hard.
It's a decision you make in your spirit, not a feeling you wait for in your emotions.
God's still writing your story—and trust me, He's not done yet. I know it's hard to believe when you're in the thick of it, but that breakthrough you've been praying for? It's not a matter of if. It's a matter of when.
And sometimes, the biggest breakthrough is realizing you had the strength to survive the storm all along.
Trust your journey. Trust God.
